LOI-Saints Emerge Victorious Amid Late Drama In Tallaght

faSt Patrick’s Athletic stand tall after two potentially season defining Dublin derbies saw them come out joint top of the pile. The Saints trounced managerless Shelbourne 3-0 on the northside while on the southside a late Ryan McEvoy goal salvaged a point for Bohemians at Shamrock Rovers.

A Christy Fagan brace combined with a goal from Chris Forrester was enough for Liam Buckley’s men to heap further misery on their beleaguered rivals. This victory lifts the Saints joint top of the table with reigning champions Sligo Rovers. League Of Ireland: Derbies To Decide Capital Gains

James has enjoyed an impressive career to date since leaving Ireland at the tender age of 16 playing for clubs such as Stoke City, West Brom, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday before opting to head stateside.

32 year old James recalls his debut with fondness “As a 16 yr old to leave home  it was tough, but it made me grow up fast. I was really excited to get going and looking forward to it. I made my first appearance as a sub and I was really pleased to get onto the pitch.” Read more

LOI: Tense Times As Relegation Trapdoor Looms

This week’s Airtricity League series features four league games complimented by a Setanta Cup Final between Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda United. Despite the season still being relatively young we can already get a fair idea of who will challenge at the top and who will be cast adrift at the bottom but such is the unpredictability of the league that results could surprise us at any instance. Bray Snatch Rare Win At Tolka

pdBray Wanderers snatched a vital 2-1 win over relegation rivals Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Monday night to give themselves brief respite from their abysmal form of late.

The earliest of chances fell for Shelbourne as a ball headed over the top by Adam Hanlon found the on-rushing Mark Leech who failed to beat Seagulls keeper Darren Quigley in a one on one situation after two minutes. Read more

LOI: Late Strikes Make For Dramatic Friday Evening

Week 11 came to a close Friday evening, around quarter to ten, and we knew exactly who stood where. Ian Baraclough knew his side had dropped to second place after title chasers Derry City had won and unforgettably his side, had not. Sligo picked up just the point after they could only muster a draw at Shamrock Rovers.

Reading loanee Karl Sheppard got a late equaliser to deny Sligo the chance to snatch a ‘smash-and-grab’ win in Dublin. As for Derry, they managed a late rally to capture a win against Limerick, despite striker Rory Patterson appearing to be  offside when he netted for the winner for the Candystripes. Read more

It was a game that had been circled by both sets of supporters for several weeks as the dreaded “relegation six pointer”. UCD were in confident mood coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 victory over Shamrock Rovers. With the first third of the season almost over the table is beginning to take shape.
