Andersson Heaps Praise Upon Drogheda
Malmo Assistant Manager Daniel Andersson was quick to heap praise upon Drogheda United last night, after his side knocked the League Of Ireland side out of the Europa League, winning 2-0 on the night.
A crowd of just over five thousand at the Swedbank Stadion witnessed an excellent display of football played by both sets of teams.
Drogheda United may count themselves unlucky not to come away with anything after the two legs but they leave with their heads held high.
Speaking after the game former Sweden international Andersson said
“They are a very strong, they surprised us.”
“Over the two legs Drogheda surprised us a lot, they defended well here tonight and their set up surprised us overall. I didn’t expect them to play as well as they did. Drogheda work with set pieces well.”
Drogheda United played well over the two legs and manager Mick Cooke knows how hard his squad fought for the right to advance to a meeting with Pat Fenlon’s Hibernian in the next round.
But Malmo advance to face Hibs, a side they know little about.
“We know very little about the Scottish side, we know they played Nottingham Forrest in a friendly and we know they are currently not in their season.”
He went on to speak about his side’s chances ahead of the Hibernian match. ”It’s a fifty-fifty game vs Hibernian.”
“We know they are a very good team. We have to compete at our highest of levels. They are a very strong team.”
